Please Note – DO NOT FALL for the Facebook Fakes
We have noticed that yet another Facebook scammer has posed as Infinite Discs on Facebook. This has happened a couple of times before, and they’ve been shut down, but it keeps happening. A fake account is created or hijacked and then they post images from the Infinite Discs page so that they look real.

THIS IS HOW TO IDENTIFY AND IGNORE A SCAMMER:

  • A faker will misspell Infinite Discs in a way that is hard to notice at first glance, like replacing a letter “i” with a letter “l” as in “Inflnite Discs”
  • A faker will send you a friend request. Business pages like the official Infinite Discs page are not people, so we cannot send friend requests. We will NEVER send out a friend request, since we can’t. The fakers are people posing as a business, so they send out a friend request to get your attention.
  • A faker will message you to say that you’ve won something. Once you accept their friend request, they tell you that you won something to get you to click on their bogus links. We put the name of any winner in the comments of a give-away and don’t send messages to the winners (they must message us).
  • We will not send you links to sign up for things like credit cards, video sites, etc. If they’re telling you to click on things to “claim your prize” then they’re scammers. The only links we give out are to our own website.

While we always report these to Facebook, it usually takes a lot of jumping through hoops to get them removed (or the help of our disc golf friends who work there). Apparently, using a stolen personal account to spoof a real business account is not easily identified as a violation of Facebook community guidelines, so it takes time to get them removed. It is best to ignore them so they don’t have a reason to keep doing it. Thanks!

Have an awesome weekend!
